Preference would be for the cycle track to be on the south side of Westgate as it would help create a greater sense of openness on that side of Westgate. Like the idea of the continuous eastbound bus lane and space for buses to pass another bus at a stop. Some concern that no bus priorities in the westbound direction. More so the closer to Park Square West junction and the blocking of the junction that occurs at peak times from right turning traffic. Appreciate the reasons for removing the northbound buses from Park Row and re-routeing via Infirmary Street and East Parade but there is no compensating bus lane on East Parade and the exit at West gate reduced to two-lanes. See potential for delays to buses. Think a bus lane is needed along King Street and East Parade, which would benefit buses traveling from Wellington Street to Westgate and then going eastwards along The Headrow. Peak time problem of queueing traffic from Park Lane and the bus lane ought to be extended westwards.

This will make this area more pedestrian-friendly and cyclist-friendly, which are both better for the environment. This will improve the public space and make the area more pleasant to be in.

We need to be careful about over complicated vehicle routings. Congestion could be caused if people are unsure how to get to their destination, driving slowly and find their progress blocked by traffic restrictions. If people make a mistake and miss their turning are they able to ‘recover’ and get back to their destination. Will banning left turn out of Park Square East and the left turn from Westgate to Park Square West lead to problems of this nature? Is it necessary to ban these turns?
