Appreciate the reasons for wanting to create an open space by junction of New Briggate with The Headrow to create a more pleasant area and to be able to make a significant reduction to the traffic using New Briggate. The disadvantage for bus users from the Western edge of the City Centre will be the increase in walking distance to Vicar Lane. Puzzled as to reason why the eastbound bus lane does not continue upto the traffic lights by North Lane. Still see using Merrion Street as a shortcut between New Briggate and Vicar Lane if the traffic direction were reversed then the traffic restriction would become self enforcing. The plan shows a new eastbound bus lane along Eastgate but no bus priorities westbound on Eastgate. It seems strange to continue general traffic will still be able to travel westbound along Eastgate and the problems delay and congestion will remain. Eastgate should treated like The Headrow with two-way bus lanes, the central reservation removed and footpaths widened. Suggest that there should be a

bicycle lock provision should be expanded rather than shuffled round. Will the poster hoarding octagonal towers be kept? they are important for the social life of the city.
